Volcanic hot spots, Clermont Ferrand 2013

Workshop on Satellite-Data-Driven Detection, Tracking and Modeling of Volcanic Hot Spots

Clermont-Ferrand, France, 28-30 May 2013

Organisers A. Harris (Clermont-Ferrand, France), P. Labazuy (Clermont-Ferrand, France) and T. De Groeve (European Commission Joint Research Centre).  Contact Andy Harris (a.harris@opgc.univ-bpclermont.fr)

Thermal remote sensing has developed to such an extent that hot spot detection routines are now common place, and can be used for forward modeling of lava flow inundation.  This workshop gathered European experts from the remote sensing, modeling and crisis management communities to: (i) define required deliverables for use during effusive crises, (ii) couple hot spot detection and lava flow modeling systems, and (iii) define standards, formats and dissemination protocols for the resulting products.
